I come to you just as I am, with life’s curves and wandering alleys. I recently found out the power of something.
Toddlers have mighty sneezes!
Yep, I got hit with a pre-school sneeze and cold. As a result, The Voice of Intuition podcast is grounded, like a plane in a fog.
I feel fine, but my voice sounds like James Earl Jones doing a voice-over for a frog in a Disney movie. So, I needed to land the podcast plane for a bit.
It may have grounded my voice temporarily, but not my fingers.
The concept of landing the plane got me thinking, which is sometimes a risky endeavor.
How do we ground our spirituality? At some point, we have to land that plane.
It’s nice to talk about the Light.
To be the Light.
To wait for the Light.
To want the Light of who we are to be held in the hands of the divine.
All of which is good and noble and true.
Yet, like my voice, spirituality has to land. We must ground our spirit plane as we can’t always fly at 35,000 feet. We are here, on the ground.
With connections, ideas, and concepts gleaned from the heavens, it’s essential to land them. The principles of spirituality, the soul, and God must be grounded and utilized to bring about the transformative change we seek.
How do we ground spirituality so the presence of God, of the Light, is workable and usable in everyday life?
Well, my dear friend, let me share some things about grounding spirituality and inviting the presence of God, the Light, into your everyday life.
First, remember that spirituality is a personal journey, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach. So, please take a deep breath, and let's dive in!
1. Embrace Imperfection — Life is messy (achooo), and so are we. Spirituality isn't about being perfect; to have the ideal sacred space, crystals, malas, feathers, etc. Those are fun, don’t get me wrong. Love them! But they do not change who we are here to be.
Who you are here to be was given to you long ago without talismans.
It's about accepting our flaws and embracing our humanity. So, let go of the need to figure it out and allow yourself to make U-turns along the way.
We can embrace the divine messages often tucked away within our messes, then embody them and offer them to others as support when asked.
We will never run out of messy, delightful, consequential, or painful seasons of our lives.
The counterpoint to our colorful lives is that we will never run out of the power of love, which lifts and unfurls our invisible wings.
Embracing your mess, messages, and miracles, as perfectly imperfect as they may be, grounds your spirituality.
2. DO Find Your Sacred Space — This doesn't have to be a grand cathedral or a mountaintop (although those can be pretty amazing!). Your sacred space can be as simple as a cozy corner in your home or a peaceful natural spot. Create a space to retreat, reflect, and connect with something greater than yourself.
And how about this? How about finding the sacred space within you?! No additives are required.
We can look outside, inside, or both when we have a challenge.
Why not find that sacred spot within you and get cozy there daily? How sweet is that?
Breathe, drop your mind into your body, and ask, “Where is my sacred space within? Go there and have a listen and a chat.”
Another quick point or two for you about sacred spaces.
Visionaries need vistas. Yet, some of you need a cozy, sequestered space where you feel less exposed by vastness, which paradoxically allows you to ground more easily to experience the expanse of God and the universe.
Yet, visionaries must have a vista to keep their feet firmly on the ground and allow their eyes to cast far and wide, gathering the unbounded information they seek in their way.
Most of us use both cozy spots and vistas. Aren’t we brilliant?
You are remembering that within you is your true Sacred Space that grounds your spirituality.
3. Practice Mindfulness — I faithfully practice mindfulness-based meditation, contemplation, and prayer. All three are different. All three serve me well so I can be of service.
Chaos happens, and it takes us all for a spin. To ground our spiritual nature, we must take moments throughout the day to slow down, breathe, and be fully present in the here and now.
Whether through meditation, prayer, or simply savoring a cup of tea, mindfulness helps us tune in to the divine and the organic, earthly presence surrounding us.
Daily, mindfully landing within yourself grounds your spirituality.
4. Seek Connection — We're not meant to walk this journey alone. Surround yourself with like-minded souls who uplift and inspire you. Join a spiritual community, attend gatherings, or engage in meaningful conversations with friends.
Our shared experiences and insights can deepen our connection to the universe and the Light.
We won’t feel so alone in our quest and not feel so out there, which can happen if you’re the “one” in the family. Right? I know you know what I mean….
When we reflect with others, additional insights flow to all present. What a gift.
Being aware here and now grounds your spirituality.
5. Cultivate Gratitude — I know, that you know, that we all know gratitude is so important.
Gratitude is like a magnet for the divine.
It’s golden nectar, the sweet honey of the heavens.
Take time each day to count your blessings, big and small, whether it's a beautiful sunset, a kind gesture from a stranger, or a delicious and yummy slice of pie.
Acknowledging and appreciating the goodness in your life opens the door for more blessings to flow in.
Gratitude for this and that grounds your spirituality for yourself and others.
6. Embody Love and Kindness — The presence of God, the Light, is all about love and kindness. So, let's be the embodiment of that in our everyday lives.
Show compassion for yourself and others, practice forgiveness, and spread joy wherever you go.
When we shine inside with loving kindness, we are neither wimpy, blank-eyed people pleasers nor false to ourselves or others.
It’s all Namaste moments, baby!
Compassion grounds your spirituality.
As I close, I ask you to consider this — no magical shift in dimensions will suddenly turn you into a Light body unless it’s time to go home.
In this body with real-time luminescent cells, it’s a journey with occasional sudden shifts and roller-coaster-like climbs, curves, and drops. Wheeee!
Take it from someone who’s seen, been shocked by, fell in love with, and wiggled within her soul’s body when she died. Ahh, that would be me.
Being you, being your Light, is an inner process that grounds your spirituality.
REMEMBER…
You come from Light.
You’ll go back to Light.
Be the Light within your current magnificent form.
It’s a simple path.
Say the sentence below and see how it feels. It’s something I learned very clearly on the other side.
“I come from the Light.
I go back to the Light.
Therefore, I must be Light!
I am both there and here now.
I am.”
So, my dear friend, as you embark on this journey of grounding your spiritual plane, remember to be gentle with yourself, stay open to the unexpected (because that’s the way life rolls), and trust that the presence of God, the Light, is always YOU.
May your path be filled with warmth, kindness, and laughs.
Trust me, the heavens have a sense of humor.
I mean, look at a hippo. God had to have a comedy committee on hand to create a hippo and a platypus, for that matter—all creatures, great and small.
Love ya’ll! BIG time!
